It is time to select the 2024 National Specialty Chairperson for the 2024 ASCA National Specialty to be held in Grand Island, Nebraska, October 10-19, 2024. We are calling for applications from those interested in serving as the National Specialty Chairperson.
The Nationals Chairperson oversees the entire National Specialty. They work with the Nationals Committee Members to create the budget, approve all expenditures, and make sure the budget is adhered to. They make sure all Nationals Committee Members have what they need to run the events effectively, they are the overall troubleshooter for the specialty, and they administer any conflict resolutions that may arise. They must have served on a National Specialty Committee, and they must be knowledgeable of ASCA’s rules and policies and have a desire to ensure that Nationals participants have a positive experience. This person must be willing and able to wear many hats with a smile on their face.
The Nationals Chairperson makes monthly reports to the ASCA President and Treasurer and works closely with the Nationals Liaison to keep the Board informed about the progress of the Nationals plans. Because they are responsible for the collection of money, the maintenance of the Nationals ledger, the disbursement of checks for all Nationals expenses, and the final income statement, the National Specialty Chairperson will be bonded by ASCA, per National Specialty Rules. This is a time-consuming job and requires the dedication of two years of work. This person must have excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
You do not have to live in Nebraska to apply!
If you are interested in serving as the 2024 ASCA National Specialty Chairperson, please send your letter of interest/resume, outlining your Nationals experience and your qualifications for the position, to the ASCA Executive Secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org by August 1, 2022, to be considered.
