After careful consideration and following thorough discussions, the Board voted to change ASCA’s IRS designation from a 501(c)(7) to a 501(c)(4). This decision was not made lightly and comes after exploring all available options and their respective implications. We believe this change will allow us to broaden our scope and further align our operations with our mission and values.
Transitioning to a 501(c)(4) designation primarily means greater fundraising potential for ASCA. While donations to 501(c)(4) organizations are typically not tax-deductible for individuals (with certain exceptions), these organizations can receive unlimited contributions from individuals, corporations, and other entities.
This process will be overseen by Cynthia Downing, ASCA’s Fundraising Coordinator, who has been instrumental in advising us on matters pertaining to our IRS designation and seeking corporate sponsorships. We also have the expert support of ASCA’s Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to ensure the transition is smooth and carried out with utmost precision.
Please remember that our mission remains unchanged. This shift is about evolving our operations to best serve our members and to advance our shared goals. We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate this transition together.
