News from the President

I hope this first week of 2024 is just the beginning of a year filled with wonderful things for all of us!

A huge debt of gratitude goes out to our members and the 2023 National Specialty leadership and committee for their support and contributions. Because of this, we realized a substantial profit from the Specialty. The exact figure will be forthcoming once the full accounting has been completed. That being said, there was enough money to clear the indebtedness from the bank loan procured last April. That loan was completely paid off during the month of December. This will yield a tremendous benefit to our financial situation and our 2024 budget. We are continuing to look for improvements in moving ASCA forward and this is certainly a positive contributing factor.

Another exciting scenario that we are experiencing and benefitting from is our Affinity Marketing program. You will be seeing promotional stories supporting these companies that have joined with us on our Facebook page and I encourage you to support these companies which will support ASCA with your purchases. Our Sponsorship and Fundraising Committee has dedicated countless hours in establishing relationships with these companies and I hope we will see even greater support and returns from their work in the coming months.

I would like to address some “myths” that have been floating around within ASCA. There has been much conversation regarding the site for ASCA Nationals 2025. Winnemucca is the site for the 2025 ASCA National Specialty to be held September 19-27, 2025. The contract for that venue has been signed and returned to the Winnemucca Convention & Visitors Authority. Along those same lines, yes, ASCA voted to allocate funds for a site visit to Winnemucca. However, no ASCA funds were utilized to send two ASCA representatives to view and evaluate that site. Please take into consideration the validity of your comments before posting them to a public media source.

Your Board of Directors is making a diligent effort to continue to have transparency with our members. If you have a concern that you feel needs to be addressed, please reach out to us so we can have the opportunity to speak to your concern.

Until next time,

Susan Byrne
ASCA President
