I am writing to inform you of a decision made by the Board during the recent spring meeting regarding the future of the Aussie Times. After extensive discussion, the Board agreed to run the magazine exclusively online for a period of one year, starting with the July/August 2023 issue. This will be a savings of approximately $104k for ASCA. This decision will be reviewed annually during the Board’s spring meeting, starting in 2024. The Board hopes that the membership will support this transition, as it is necessary for the financial health of the organization.
The Board wants to emphasize the importance of keeping ASCA financially solvent and stress that this action is essential to achieving that goal. At the 2024 spring meeting, the Board will either continue with the suspension or reinstate the hard copy publication.
We understand that this transition may affect some of our subscribers who have already paid for first-class mailing of the Aussie Times. We have decided that subscribers should contact the ASCA Business Office to receive credit that can be used toward future services or to transfer the amount paid to the ASCA Foundation as a donation. Additionally, new members who pay online will be refunded the cost of mailing.
We hope that our members will understand and support this temporary transition to publishing the Aussie Times exclusively online. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Kalla Jaco
ASCA Executive Secretary
