Transition to UC Davis-VGL

About Aussies

NEW ASCA DNA LAB PARTNER

The ASCA BOD is pleased to announce that ASCA has entered into agreement with Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) – UC Davis to provide DNA Parentage Services as of May 26, 2026. SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) technology employing the ISAG (International Society For Animal Genetics) Gold Standard markers will be utilized for these services. VGL is considered the leading animal DNA parentage verification laboratory in the world which will give ASCA the accuracy, stability and longevity needed to ensure the program’s success.

***DNA Profile/Parentage Kits are now available for ordering through UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL).***

Please note that parentage verification will not be immediately available. Parentage services will become available once the full Orivet data transfer has been completed. At this time, we estimate parentage functionality to be available by July 2026.

To help guide members through the ordering process, this flyer and a step-by-step video tutorial has been created demonstrating how to place an order through the UC Davis VGL system.

The QR code on the flyer will take you directly to the tutorial video, or you may access it using the following link: https://vimeo.com/1194870767/99228cccb3

**DNA SUPPORT SYSTEM**

To assist members, a dedicated email address – dnadesk@asca.org – has been established for all DNA-related inquiries. Additionally, a Case Management Help Request Form – tinyurl.com/dnahelprequest – has been created for members who are experiencing issues with DNA results or the release of DNA certification to ASCA.

Through this form, members can submit case-specific details and upload supporting documentation directly to the DNA Case Management Team. Each case will be managed and tracked until a proper resolution is reached.

ORIVET RESULTS PENDING RELEASE TO ASCA: Members who are experiencing trouble obtaining the DNA data release to ASCA should take the following steps:
