Important Announcement: 2026 Stockdog Finals Format Change

Dear ASCA Members,

The ASCA Board of Directors has approved an important update to the 2026 Stockdog Finals format in response to livestock availability and cost challenges at the 2026 Nationals site in Greeley, Colorado.

Per motion BD.25.25, passed at the 2025 Spring Board Meeting:

An exception has been made to Stockdog Program Rule 24.9.2 (Minimum Number of Livestock per Run) for the 2026 Stockdog Finals. The number of cattle per run will be reduced to three head for the first two elimination rounds and return to the standard five head for the final round.

This temporary adjustment allows ASCA to move forward with planning a high-quality and financially responsible Finals while continuing to prioritize safety, stock quality, and fairness in competition.

We recognize this change may impact competitors’ strategies and expectations. However, it is a necessary step to ensure a successful event given the market conditions for cattle in Colorado and the significant cost and sourcing challenges faced by the host committee.
